SUMMARY OF PRACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS «KDOQI CLINICAL PRACTICE GUIDELINE FOR NUTRITION IN CKD: 2020 UPDATE»

Introduction. A translation of the Nutrition Assessment Guidelines (Nutrition in CKD Guideline Work Group. KDOQI clinical practice guideline for nutrition in CKD: 2020 update) is provided.
Goal. Translation of the Guidelines for nutrition assessment (Nutrition in CKD Guideline Work Group. KDOQI clinical practice guideline for nutrition in CKD: 2020 update) for familiarization and wide implementation in practical work by Ukrainian doctors.
Materials and methods. Bibliographic – a theoretical analysis was carried out and a translation of the Guidelines on the nutrition of patients on maintenance hemodialysis was carried out, the actual content was analyzed.
Results and their discussion. Statements are given on technical devices and anthropometric measurements for the assessment of body composition (bioelectrical impedance for patients on maintenance hemodialysis), assessment using laboratory measurements (determination of individual biomarkers), measurement of hand grip strength, assessment of energy expenditure/needs, tools/methods that used to estimate protein and calorie intake; guidelines for protein and energy consumption, medical nutrition, statements regarding the appointment of food supplements (oral protein-energy food supplements of long-chain Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids), oral, enteral and intradialysis parenteral nutrition; instructions on trace elements (folic acid, on the addition of vitamins C, D, A and E, selenium and zinc); electrolytes (calcium, phosphorus, sodium).
Conclusions. Translation Dietary guidelines for dialysis patients promote lifestyle modification strategies to achieve better volume control and a more desirable body weight.
